Plays within plays

Confusion as a literary device

Hamlet ~ Hamlet uses a play to convey to his uncle-father that the murder of the king was no secret.
Noises Off~ The in-and-out dialogue makes for a hysterical play/plays
Moulin Rouge ~ Christian writes a play for the moulin rouge which ends up perfectly foretelling his situation with the leading lady, Satine
Get Shorty ~ I don't really remember but there is a show and its hella confusing at the end
Music Man ~ A traveling salesman tries to convince a town that buying a boys' band will keep their kids off the streets. He needs to prove himself with the show at the end.
A midsummer Night's dream ~ Donkey-dude is performing in the play that leads to his becoming a donkey/ the faerie queen falling in love with him.
Six on six? ~ A game within a show.
Spinal Tap? ~ a more-or-less documentary about the rise and fall of a rock group. It shows them onstage
Annie Hall ~ doesn't he end up writing a play about their relationship in the movie?
Best in Show ~ There's a dog show that everyone is getting ready for. The show is at the end, taking up a good third or so of the movie.
The Producers ~ Two guys write a play bound to suck using money lent to them from various people to pay back later if the play is a hit. The scam is ruined when the critics love their "political satire" and "symbolism" in Springtime for Hitler
The Sound of Music ~ the von trapp family singers manage to show the love and all that stuff by singing together in a time of war.
Victor and Victoria~ A woman dresses as a man pretending to be a woman. A man falls in love with this "drag queen" and is upset to learn that she's a he.. little does he know..
Waiting for Guffman ~ a play about Corky, who is directing a play about a Blaine Missouri. He plans to take the play to Broadway with the original cast.
