this took over an hour to write.

There is a new girl to the Edmund High girls' basketball team in Iowa. She's a star player and the very definition of feminist (borderlining sexist), just like her mother.
But confusion is created when New Girl (Gloria) finds out that Iowa plays basketball a different way. Six on Six, not Five on Five. Her mother (Louise) is absolutely appalled to find out that only the girls play six on six (the boy's team plays regular rules) so she does what any American wanting to get something done does... She calls a lawyer.

Ms. Singleton is awake early on saturday morning talking on the phone to Louise. Her husband Mr Green is still asleep. When he wakes up we see the differences between the couple in a "waltz-like duet" in which we see that Green is way more fun loving and less career oriented, while Singleton is his polar opposite.
They plan a weekend getaway where Green tricks her into going to see a football game.
We find out that Singleton is Louise's lawyer when she meets her client later that morning.
Louise tells her how she thinks Gloria won't be equally considered for a scholarship if she plays six on six. She Brings up JoLynn Hanrahan, who is currently about to break the scoring record and is becoming rapidly famous in the area. Louise point out that JoLynn might not get a scholarship because she plays six on six.
The discussion somes to a hault when Louise realizes that Ms Singleton is one of "Those Women". ~inserty song here~ She agrees to take the case.

In the board room of BAGI officers, the five men try to think of a name for the team mascot, and other equally trivial but funny issues. Ms Louise enters and tells them of her lawsuit. And of course, they sing about it. Tradition v. Feminism. The men also call a lawyer, Mr Green. When Green arrives, of course, they sing. "Save the Game".

Green and Singleton find out they're opposing sides of this case and present each other with evidence and argue for a while. Green decides to leave to give Singleton "a little distance from each other while we're working on the case".
Singleton does a solo about her present situation of husband-less-ness.

Reporters are in front of the Edmund High gym talking about JoLynn. They start talking to JoLynn, we see that she doesn't care as much about the record, only the success of the team. Singleton and Green both show up to ask JoLynn to testify on their behalf.
Green meets Mike. Mike Milford has a crush on JoLynn, but thinks she doesnt know he exists. Then mike sings about why would a girl like her notice me?
The reporters are still bothering JoLynn and she finally gets sick of them, turning to leave she runs into Mike and they talk a little.
Then they alternate singing about how the other one might not even notice them.

JoLynn is in the office of BAGI people, they ask her to give her real opinion of six on six in the court. Green and Koffman (one of the board members) talk about the game and will the girls get whats best for them? Koffman Monologues on how he's always tried to do whats in the best intrest of the girls. Koffman points out the toll this case is takin on Greens marriage.
Then he sings.

Reporters and everyone else attack JoLynn with questions and other annoying things. Green and Singleton fight over her in front of the press. Then louise joins. Then the BAGI guys. then friggin EVERYONE all starts singing and shouting about how they're JoLynn's biggest fan...

There's a pageant rehersal where they sing about how much the love six on six and Iowa. Chuck (singer guy) is hitting on one of the pageant girls. the BAGI guys enter, and Jolynn comes in to get a feel for the gym before the game. Green comes and tries to talk to her but Koffman stops him.
Mike comes in and shows that he's written the score for the school song and music. Jolynn overhears and comments on it. the BAGI guys try to talk Mike into asking Jolynn out, he's about to ask when a reporter interrupts and Koffman gets kinda pissed at them. Mike sings about "female problems"
Chuck says that girls like to be told what to do and groped and felt and crap. The girl he was hitting on earlier approaches and tells him that she's filed a formal complaint against him for sexual harrassment. Then he sings his part of female problems.
Then Green sings about his. then theyt all sing together.

Edmund High wins a basketball game but JoLynn doesnt make her best score ever. the reporters ask what went wrong, she says nothing, we won the game.. they bring up her average, she brings up how well everyone else played. they bring up Gloria not liking the game. She gets annoyed with them.
They turn to question Gloria but Louise answers for her, not allowing her daughter to get a word in. Gloria is sad because she didn't think this lawsuit would get out of hand, and portray her as the bad guy, the one that got rid of six on six and forever hated by Iowans.Louise cheers her up with, what else, a song. "Just like the great ones, we're ahead of our time"

In court Green is talking to JoLynn.
then singleton asks her if she has gotten any letters from colleges about a scholarship. She shows JoLynn the letters from colleges on how they wont accept someone whose played six on six.
Closing arguments.

In the locker rooms, JoLynn is still being bothered by reporters. She sings later about how she's only seventeen and shouldnt have to put up with these guys. Gloria overhears the whole thing and sits down next to JoLynn. They talk about how everyone speaks for them. Gloria didn't really want the lawsuit, she doesn't even like basketball. And JoLynn never wanted the record, she just wanted to play her best. Then they talk about just wanting to be normal, go to prom, etc.. JoLynn says she likes Mike. Gloria likes Reggie, whom she shares a very benedick and Beatrice relationship with.

Its the end of the game, its a tie with a few seconds left.
Reporters are still there. Green gets a note about a settlement, he thinks the other side is withdrawing.
Singleton gets the same letter, she thinks Green is backing out.
Edmund high wins the game but JoLynn doesn't break the record. Gloria and JoLynn are talking to Mike when reporters come asking her if its a "bittersweet moment" for her. She sicks them on Gloria, who scored that last basket and then turns to Mike, who asks her to prom.
The reporter asks if Gloria is going to prom with anyone, Louise starts to asnwer but Gloria drags Reggie onto the scene and says yes, he's taking her. ("What?" "You're going with me. Deal with it.")
Singleton and Green talk about the settlement and realize niether one is backing out. Confusion.
Then they get back together and its all love and stuff.
Koffman announeces the court ruling. This is the last six on six game ever played. they sing one last time.
Edmund high school song.. and basketball is gone. It may be the best for the girls but ("the game I remember is gone forevermore")

END OF PLAY
