A very special form of basketball...
GLORIA is the new player on the Edmund High girls' basketball team. She isn't afraid to make her opinions known and is a very hardcore feminist. It's easy to see that she gets this from her mother LOUISE, who takes feminism to such an extreme that it looks more like sexism than a struggle for equal rights.
Quite a stir is created when GLORIA and LOUISE meet the girls' basketball team for the first time. COACH MULLEN explains the game of six on six with the help of JOLYNN (a quiet girl who is about to break the all-time scoring record, but it's clear she doesn't want the fame) and REGGIE (a player for the boys' team who thinks he's God's gift to womankind).
LOUISE calls her lawyer, BARBARA SINGLETON an extremely career-oriented woman and together they go to meet the BAGI MEN.
There are five men on the BAGI chair.
MR KOFFMAN is their leader. He is obviously the "adult" figure of the group. He loves the sport of six on six and always does whats best for the girls.
CHUCK is a middle-aged sex-fiend stuck in the seventies. He is often very aggravated at ARNIE, who is a flaming drama queen. Serious comic relief.
HARRY is stuck in the middle of these poor people. He just sits there and looks kinda scared.
LEO is the guy you laugh at. He comes up with really weird ideas that ARNIE always backs. At one point he dresses up as a sprinkler, the outfit in which he tells the rest of the BAGI committee "All you stupid-lookin freaks are wrong."
THE REPORTERS, as in almost any case, are a group of pompous stalkers that keep pouring into JOLYNN'S life when she doesn't want them. Much to the dismay of MIKE, the shy boy who has a crush on JOLYNN but never gets to talk to her. Little does he know, she has the same crush on him.
I actually really liked the costuming in this play. I honestly can't think of anything I'd like to change about it.
